3 Ways to Maximize Your Wardrobe

October 14, 2016

Whether your closet is bursting at the seams or fairly light, chances are we all have items in our closet that we don’t wear often or only wear for one purpose.  Every now and then, I like to find different ways that I can re-wear items while getting out of my comfort zone.  Because let’s face it, we might not all have the cash in the bank for it so let’s get creative! Scroll through to find 3 ways you can maximize your wardrobe.

  1. Re-purpose Items.  When you open your closet and look at your items, try to find at least one other way to re-wear an item other than what the original purpose is.  My favorite item to re-purpose is a dress.  Our first initial thought of a dress is it has one purpose to be worn as a dress and that is it.  Depending on the fit, style and pattern – it can be worn in multiple ways other than the original purpose and through at least three seasons (fall, spring and summer, maybe winter).  In this outfit here, I have taken a summer dress into fall by making it work with a tshirt over top.  A few other great ways to re-wear a dress for fall or winter is to throw a sweater on over top or a blouse.  Your wardrobe is more versatile than you think! 😉
  2. Fit.  I know I have said this more often than not, but keep in mind fit of your clothing. In order to re-purpose items keep in mind how they fit while mixing them together.  For example, this t-shirt that I am wearing is baggy/loose.  To make it work with the outfit, I tied a knot.  Making sure that your items fit and go together will make your outfit look put together and not frumpy.
  3. Look for Inspiration.  A great way to find inspiration to maximize your wardrobe is through others.  That could be magazines, blogs, pinterest, etc.  This also could be a tempting way to spend money, but try to use this tool as a way to see how others have re-worn items that you may already have in your closet.

Do you re-wear items in your closet or have any tips?  I’d love to hear your thoughts! If there is a future post that you would like to see, feel free to leave me a comment below or shoot me an email!  Hope you all have a great weekend! xo
